Our Mission
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to preserve and protect the health and beauty of Contoocook Lake and its surrounding watershed, through activities that include:
Controlling the spread of invasive variable milfoil by contracting for diver harvesting each summer and occasional chemical treatments.
Reducing the spread of invasive plants and organisms both to and from Contoocook through a voluntary Lake Host boat inspection program
Monitoring lake water quality and educating our members and the general public about ways to limit our impact on water quality.
Advocating for lake friendly legislation as a member of the Lake Advocates Network
Working with partner organizations who share our dedication to preserving our natural environment, including NH Lakes, the Loon Preservation Committee and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES)
Promoting community engagement and involvement by sponsoring social activities such as the Annual Lake Appreciation Day picnic.
Read the President’s letter and learn more about the Contoocook Lake season ahead.
BECOME A VOLUNTEER
We are blessed with a very dedicated group of members currently on our board, but there is always room for more help. Please consider whether you might like to volunteer in some capacity, large or small. Perhaps you’d like to join in to help with one of the efforts listed above, or perhaps you have some new idea for preserving and protecting our lake that you’d like to pursue.
