CLAPA Informational Meeting June 7, 2017, 10 a.m. at the Woodbound Inn
Jim Grier called the meeting to order. Attendance was low due to limited notification to members beyond the CLAPA web page. Please note that the next CLAPA meeting will take place August 19 at 10 am at Woodbound Inn.
Jim noted several changes affecting Board Members, in particular:
Milfoil Management. Diving is taking place on Mondays and Fridays, concentrating on river mouth.
CLAPA needs to find new divers who can donate time and effort.
The Board acknowledges other assistance provided to support this effort. In particular: Divers’ air tanks are being filled by Townsend Fire Dept. Roger Lafarier has been instrumental in providing the pick-up and delivery of the tanks.
Jim attended the lakes region meeting this year and announced that there may be a new herbicide coming into play with effects that would last for 10 years knockdown, but it is still in the test phase. We will continue to follow how it goes.
Lake Host. The Board is considering restarting the lake host program. CLAPA has put up milfoil information signs at launch, but this may not be enough to make sure boats are clean before putting into our lake.
Membership. Dues are $55 and can be paid through Paypal. Dues are tax deductible.
Jim is working on getting list of property owners so that we can update our membership list.
Loons. They are nesting on the island and boaters and people should be discouraged from getting too close to the nest. Nancy Walz has been working with the NH Loon society in putting up signs around the island to warn people away from the nest.
She said that the Loons have left the nest and there is still one egg in it. It was marked with an X and then left for a few days and when they returned, the egg had been moved since the X was not visible. We are hoping it hatches.
Nancy will try to get someone from the Society to give a talk at one of our meetings.
Meeting adjourned at 10:30am.

Jim noted several changes affecting Board Members, in particular:
- Jim has a new job and he will not be able to dive this year leaving only the paid divers to clear the milfoil.
- Bob Carney is moving and we need a new treasurer. Karen Goldstein was mentioned as a candidate.
