CLAPA Annual Meeting July 3, 2018, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the Woodbound Inn
Present: about 35 members.
Present: about 35 members.
- Welcome to members.
- Presentation by loon expert.
- Financial report presented by treasurer Karin Goldstein. Thank you to past and present board members. 75 members have paid dues; up to 400 potential members. Expect to spend about $41,000 this year on administrative expenses, chemical treatments, and divers. Jaffrey may allow a warrant article that would bring the town funding for lake preservation.
- We are creating better signage at the public launch and public beach to educate users and promote CLAPA membership.
- Milfoil report: Chemical treatment at west end only in August. It is impossible to keep up with diving only. Chemical use encouraged by NH DES. Has very quick breakdown and reduced risk compared to chemical used previously. Will control weeds for three years. In treated areas, residents should not swim for 24 hours, or water plants from lake for 6 days following treatment. State of NH is reimbursing 25% of cost of treatment.
- More volunteers are urgently needed. Considering weekend diving when more people are available to volunteer. Joan is organizing pilots and tenders.
